在一場審判之中，一位印度陸軍尉官誠實但致命的證詞令一位名叫迪拉瓦（Vishwajeet Pradhan 飾）的慣犯將要麵臨為期十年的牢獄之災。邪惡的迪拉瓦懷恨在心，在蟄伏了十年之後，出獄的他拐走了尉官的女兒阿米拉（艾西瓦婭·雷 Aishwarya Rai Bachchan 飾）。
迪拉瓦將阿米拉帶到了位於勒克瑙的一家妓院之中，在那裏，小小的阿米拉開始學習各種才藝和禮儀。很快，阿米拉就憑借著她出色的外貌和優美的舞姿成為了勒克瑙地區人人想要瞻仰的高嶺之花。之後，阿米拉結識了名叫蘇坦（阿布舍克·巴強 Abhishek Bachchan 飾）的男子，一方麵，她沉迷與蘇坦所能帶給她的紙醉金迷的生活，另一方麵，在內心深處，阿米拉依舊對愛情和婚姻生活懷有著幻想與希望。
